The impact of hindsight

Me - What is...had to be because of what was. That general direction we charted for ourselves with coming of age inspiration. If we knew then what we know now, life could have had possibilities.
Arun - Past begets present begets future. If you live in the ifs and buts of the past, you fuck up both your present and future.
Me - That wasn't about a wish frame, but a realisation that what is was bound to be. Hindsight doesn't change anything but allows for scenario building. The present was the future once.
Arun - Hindsight makes you smarter, careful and wary of what could go wrong and where and how not to let it happen again.
Me - Is that the expectation or does the hindsight continuum thus far, have any evidence that one is continually evolving as a smarter guy. Getting it right more often!
Hindsight oft provides perspectives that rationalise the current status quo. Would be difficult to live with oneself if they didn't. Moral: When in doubt, just do more of the same.
Arun - And make the same mistakes again? No bro. You don't burn your fingers again, that is if you have gained some wisdom from hindsight.
Me - You're not getting it bro. There is no again. Only more of the same. The start point was, What is, was bound to happen. On a highway with no exits now. Lane driving keeps you sane.
All the wisdom from hindsight only helps you choose which lane to drive in. Some of it comes to resemble baggage too, at times. It allows for reflection as a pastime though.
Arun - A baggage of wisdom gained by hindsight makes it easier to have better foresight.
Me - For what? Lot of stuff is nice to know. What you need to know is limited by your choices, in spite of hindsight. The mind is but an optimistic playground of hope. Cocooning reality.
