Observing without thinking

Arun - Reading Jiddu K nowadays.... Guy is very radical. m finding him little oversceptic. He insists on observing without thinking. I am not able to get it. Comment.
Me - Difficult to observe without thought. Observation is generally with intent and because of that, what is observed will always be evaluated against that intent. And thats thought. If he means a passive observer who just sees without reflection, then its about shutting off previous knowledge in present experience. An allusion to the mind as a sense sponge? Tuff!

Me - Observing without thinking is integralto the meditation process.
It is also a feature of apathy.
Arun - It sounds good theoretically, but is it possible to practice it on a routine basis?
Me - The meditative mode is what realised minds are about. Apathy is a product of meaningless routine. The former is aspired to. The latter a by-product of purposeless existence.
